Rhetorical analysis

Argument: The United states should implement a health care system because everyone deserves equal opportunity to receive good health care without having to worry about being able to afford it or not.
Audience: Republican voters in the U.S and American citizens reading the article.
Ethos: credible because the author talks in detail about the pro’s and con’s and she addresses both sides of the argument. There are also citations from other articles about the topic and the author gives sources for the reader to do their own research on the topic.
There is also some background information about universal healthcare systems and how they operate. This show’s that the author actually does know what she is talking about.
Pathos: Appeals to emotion in that the author includes some of the devastating situations that are happening in the U.S today because people cannot afford healthcare. It gives a sense of worry and stress that there are people whose needs are not being addressed because they can’t afford it.
Logos: Appeals to logic in the sense that if there are more positives than negatives in implementing a universal healthcare system, and the author gives examples of each, why wouldn’t people want it? It only makes sense that people would want to have all of their needs taken care of without having to worry about how expensive everything is.
Effective: A very effective article because it gives the reader something to think about. It gives a better understanding to what a universal healthcare system consists of and why it can benefit the American society.
Sufficient? Yes because it gives enough evidence that a universal healthcare system will have a positive effect on the environment and it includes sources.
Typical? Yes because of the presidential elections coming up there is a lot of debate on this topic. This topic could be a factor that persuades people which political party to vote for.
Accurate? Yes because it gives examples from both sides of the argument
Relevant? Yes because at this time of year it is a topic subject for debate because of the presidential elections.
