RHETORICAL ANALYSIS

Rhetorical Analysis:
- Argument: Prescription drugs in the U.S are too expensive
- Audience: People who need prescription drugs but can’t afford them.
- Ethos: a credible picture because it shows that prescription drugs are too expensive with a twenty dollar bill. There are also other bills in the background symbolizing the waste of money on prescription drugs.
- Pathos: Appeals to emotion in that the picture gives a feeling of sadness. There is a monopoly on the prescription drugs in the U.S and people can’t afford to pay for the drugs they need because they are so expensive. The coloring of the bottle in contrast with the money also appeals to emotion in that it makes the viewer more aware that they are paying too much money for prescription drugs.
- Logos: Appeals to logic because pharmaceuticals are too expensive and people need to be aware of it. With the pills spilled out over the money makes the viewer understand that they are paying is not worth what they are getting.
- Effective because it makes pharmaceutical consumers aware that they are paying too much for their drugs.
- Sufficient? Yes because even though there aren’t any words it still reminds people that something needs to be done about the pharmaceutical monopoly
- Typical? It is typical because there are many pictures like this one that are displayed in magazines and in the media
- Accurate? Yes because almost all pharmaceuticals are overpriced.
- Relevant? Yes because with the never ending invention of new drugs people need to be aware that they are paying too much so they can look for different alternatives.
